The J.S McLean Centre for Indigenous Canadian Art

The existing 2nd level McLean Centre Gallery space was extensively renovated, without disruption to the adjacent occupied galleries, to accommodate the most engaging and accessible artspace from The AGO’s Indigenous and Canadian collections.  The re-configuration and re-installation of the Centre honours Nation-to-Nation treaty relationships, reciprocity, and values of mutual respect.  Each work is accompanied by texts in three languages -- English, French and either Anishinaabemowin or Inuktitut - and states the Indigenous names of treaty territories and disputed lands.
